Eid al-Adha is a festival in celebration of when Ibrahim dreamed he received a message from Allah. During this dream, Ibrahim was asked to sacrifice Ishmael, his son, as a sign of faith in God. Ibrahim was tempted by the devil who said he should not obey God and instead spare his son. When the moment came for Ibrahim to kill Ishmael, Allah stepped in and gave him a shape to sacrifice in place of his son.
Eid al-Adha is celebrated all over the world. During these celebrations a goat or sheep is sacrificed. The meat from the animal is then split between family, friends and the poorer members of society.
