A look back on the last 12 months for the UK's funfair ride hire team
As we move into 2021, it's interesting to look back on the last year at We Are Tricycle. Like many other companies in the events industry - especially those like us and other fairground hire companies that cater for the biggest gatherings in particular - and we've not been out as much as we normally would have been.
We're hoping that 2021 will be a great year for funfair rides; we're optimistic that the COVID vaccine will work, that its roll-out will be effective and well-managed, and that by Spring or Summer 2021, everyone will be well into the party spirit, and will be craving large social gatherings where they rub shoulders with strangers on the Miami Trip ride!
2020 for We Are Tricycle
There was something in the air at the start of last year. The apocalyptic fires in Australia might have been on the other side of the world, but they suggested that we might be heading for a difficult summer, too.
However, reports about the rise of Coronavirus in Wuhan were mere murmurs at that point, and we were still providing corporate entertainment and family fun days for fetes and festivals throughout the country. As we kept our ear to the news, we realised that Coronavirus was on our shores, and we began to ramp up our hygiene and cleaning processes to ensure we could continue operating for as long as possible and that we didn't contribute to the problem.
But this was short-lived, as the first nationwide lockdown came just a few weeks later. Our fairground rides found themselves returned to the warehouses, and demand for our products fell precipitously.
Summer funfair and fairground hire
There was a brief respite in the summer, when the lockdown ended for a short period, and there was room for slightly larger events and gatherings. However, there were no festivals, concerts and funfairs! We were able to supply some of our funfair and fairground games and stalls to some smaller events, and were pleased to be a part of the event entertainment industry again.
All good things must come to an end, and summer seemed especially short in 2020. It wasn't long before everything was put back away into the warehouse again.
2021 in Funfair and Fairground Hire
So here's to a brighter 2021! We might be hopeful, but we're pleased we've managed to keep our business and our products up-to-standard over a quiet 2020, and we're expecting to hit the ground running when it comes to 2021.
