04 July 18 - Last Minute Let Downs? Buy Cheap Pay Twice!

This season so far has been a exceptionally staggering year for our phone or email bleeping at 16:55 on a Friday evening with the same message! " Hi we booked with X & Y Fairground hire and now they cannot fulfil there obligations, do you have availability?" This has now become a weekly occurrence with the same two companies popping up week in and week out. There most common tactic is to offer an unrealistic quotation, request a small deposit & then just not simply turn up.

The most common reason companies & clients have booked with the above companies are because the following reasons below,

  • They are cheap, often quoting well under the standard hire price
  • They ranked well on certain search engines and the site portrayed them as legitimate
  • Prices from (insert low to good to be true figure here)

Here is a comparison our dodgems that we supply from anyone of our contractors on a standard load in and 4 hour hire is £2,200. The hire includes a 24 hour point of contact, public liability insurance, ADIPS safety certification, risk assessments, power supply and staff. Not to mention the dodgems will be presented and operated in a safe manner and to a high standard. Where as the above mentioned companies dodgems gets quoted at £1600? Its obvious to see that there is a big difference in pricing but why are they so much cheaper? What corners are they cutting in order to give a quote that's £600 cheaper?

To sum up on the above.

  • Use a reputable supplier, look for reviews on their page. Check out there social media to view there previous jobs
  • Get a signed hire agreement on any and all bookings, make sure they outline there obligations
  • If there quotation seems to be to good to be true it more than likely is
  • Cheaper prices means substandard attractions physically & cosmetically
  • Check for a published office address, landline number rather than a mobile number
  • Avoid points of contact using Hotmail and Gmail accounts
