Crazy Cage: how the spinning “stick-to-the-wall” thrill works

Crazy Cage surrounds guests with an open mesh drum that spins at high speed. As the chamber rotates, riders feel pressed firmly against the wall and can remain in place even when the floor lowers. Below is the plain-English physics, the control logic that keeps it safe, and how it compares with the related Rotor - Gravity Ride.

The experience inside the cage

Riders take up standing bays around the inside of the circular cage. The drum accelerates smoothly to operating speed. At this point the inward push from the wall is strong enough that friction between rider and wall can support body weight. Operators may then lower the floor. Guests remain held in place while the cage maintains speed, before the system raises the floor and decelerates to a stop.
